Scholarship Program
Welcome
Bravo Programs of America awards scholarships for tuition and books to young adults aged 18 through 26 who have spent time in the foster care system. We support students enrolled in an accredited post-secondary education program with demonstrated leadership skills and good academic standing. Besides financial support, we offer one-on-one personal support, career counseling, and access to resources to support you along your educational journey. One way or another, we are here to help.
All applications must be submitted using the online process. Hardcopy or separate email submissions will no longer be accepted.

Our scholarships can be applied toward tuition, textbooks, or class-related fees. They cannot be used for travel or living expenses.
To qualify for a scholarship, you must satisfy the following criteria:
- Demonstrate that you have spent time in the foster care system.
- Are 26 or younger at the beginning of the school term for which you are applying.
- Be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary education program.

The documentation requirements vary slightly based on whether you are a new applicant or have previously received a scholarship from us. The all-inclusive list is as follows:
- Documentation verifying your foster care status.
- Copy of your school transcripts verifying your cumulative GPA (the entire transcript is not required).
- Letter of acceptance into an accredited program.
- Up-to-date resume.
- Personal essay (guidelines are spelled out below).
- Current photo (image file format only).

PERSONAL ESSAY GUIDELINES
Your essay plays a critical role in your selection as a scholarship recipient. Provide a brief response to each question. If you are a previous scholarship recipient, we understand that some of your responses will be similar to past submissions, but you are still expected to refresh your answers. Submitting an identical essay to past applications will disqualify you from consideration.
- What is your career goal?
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
- What inspired you to select this career path?
- Describe something you accomplished in the last six months that you are proud of (school, personal, or work-related) and why this accomplishment is significant to you.
- What do you hope to accomplish in addition to your career goal?
- What do you do to give back to your community?

PERSONAL ESSAY GUIDELINES
When you are awarded a scholarship from us, you will be assigned a Bravo Buddy. This is an adult working on behalf of Bravo Programs of America to be your point of contact with us should you have any questions about your scholarship or need support during the school term. Your Buddy also helps us monitor the investment we have made in you by keeping aware of your school status. This virtual activity will not intrude on your privacy.
We expect you to maintain contact with your Buddy a minimum of once a month via phone, email, and/or text. If you fail to maintain monthly contact, you will forfeit the opportunity for future Bravo scholarships.
Please note:
If you receive a scholarship, Bravo will use your photograph and some of the essay information to create a student profile of you that may be used on Bravo social media platforms and promotional materials. Highlight any information in your responses that you wish to remain confidential.

Within two weeks of the application submission deadline, our Board of Directors will meet to make scholarship award decisions. Shortly after, we will communicate with you about your application.
If you are awarded a scholarship:
- You will receive confirmation via phone call and/or email from a Bravo board member.
- A check will be sent directly to your school in time for the upcoming term.
- A Bravo Buddy will reach out to you by the start of the new school term to initiate ongoing communication.
- Bravo will announce scholarship awards on our social media platforms.
